Halloween evening in Old New Orleans,
I was walking down Bourbon Street. I saw the finest lady that I’ve ever seen and I knew that she I must meet. She looked at me, smiled and batted her eyes with lashes so long and so thick Her perfect smile made my heart erupt into sighs. She beckoned. I followed her quick. Wrapped in the moment, I didn’t think twice. I tagged along into a bar. The place was so dark. She ordered rum and some ice. Then, left me ‘cause she was the star. The waitress brought several rounds of drinks. I started to watch the review. She was a talented beauty and like the Sphinx she was very secretive, too. My lovely woman had eyes just for me. She blew kisses my way from the stage. She danced around and sang her songs sweetly; she really was just quite the rage. I told the waitress that I was in love She smiled like she already knew. She showed me a bottle marked with a little dove then winked and said, “She’s in love, too.” I learned that her name was Lila Lafitte and she was a sight to be seen! My Lila was tall (you couldn’t call her petite) with all the right curves in between. The show was over at half past midnight. I was hoping we’d have a date. I knew that I had finally met my Miss Right! I’ll kiss her before it’s too late. She invited me to her dressing room to talk over our later plans. I was surprised when I saw her out of costume. My Lila had become a man! If you take a trip to the Vieux Carre’ It had better be more than a notion If you’re looking for love in the old fashioned way beware of drinking love potions! 40 lines
