Stars spring into the dark moss above,
rising from their restful slumber.
A pale street lamp, by the calm, black water
lights the way for the weary sailors.
The snow falls like white rose petals.
He walks along the paved road,
catching ghostly visions of the white foam
as the waves come and go.
The hush whispers from the deadly ocean,
tell of a grave misfortune:
her lover, lost at sea, will not return at dark,
but has gone to the depths with her heart.
