Without Regret

She walks the halls by brilliant candlelight
in evening’s silence, ever on her own;
without her love, each night holds no delight
as deep within her soul she’ll softly groan.

Within the caverns of this loneliness,
her sadness rules each moment of the day
while seeking peace from endless restlessness
in hopes that he’ll come back for her today.

Yet somehow she knows he will not return,
adventure always seemed to rule his life
and in her heart for him she’d ever yearn,
forever lost in darkness of this strife.

So now it’s time that she try to forget
by finding ways to live without regret.

Form: English Sonnet
