A scream of terror
echos through the empty halls A roaring blast shook the grounds on which we stood Glass shattering, encompassing the world we once knew Matt and I sprinted past the horrific bodies sprawled Together we fled away from gun shots, hand in hand Tears streamed down his frightened face as he whispered, "I love you" Stumbling in, the shooter came, eyes wildly darting Sliding out of his backpack, fell a gun onto the floor Next to me it lay, and without a thought I grabbed the pistol "What are you waiting for? Fucking shoot him!" Matt screamed The gun fired, flying me back up against the wall As the bullet cut through the air Matt shrieked It happened too fast to even realize what happened His blood on my hands, warm and crimson, made me scream He writhed in agony as I cried violently, unsure of how to help What had I done? Based off Jodi Picoult's novel Nineteen Minutes
