My Corner

Please don't intrude on my solitude.
Can't you see I just want to watch?
If I can see you and hear you,
Then I know you're here,
And that's all I need.

I'm sequestered in this corner for a reason.
Can't you see the walls around me?
No, don't touch me, it's too painful,
Though you'll read my pain as anger.
Why do you need to touch me?
What do you want?

No, there's no need to answer.
If you answer I'll have to respond
And I don't think I can.
It takes too much effort
And I don't have the energy.
I used all I had just to come here.

So why am I here?
I just want to watch.
If I can see you and hear you,
Then I'll know you're here,
And that's all I need.
