Urdu:  Phir kuchh ik dil ko baiqaraari hay
          Seena jooya e zakhm e kaari hay

English:=== My heart is restless; it's very, very skittish
                  To be stabbed and wounded it can only wish
                                          -

Urdu:  Chashm dallaal e jins e ruswaaie
          Dil klharidaar zoaq e khaari hay

English:=== My heart and eyes are my real foes
                  Their yearning and craving cause all my woes
                                              -

Urdu:  Qibla e maqsad e nigaah e niyaaz
          Phir wohi perda e amaari hay

English:=== And behind the curtain when she tries to hide
                  My eyes want to go and look inside
                                            -

Urdu:  Dil hawa a kharaam e naaz say phir
          Mehsheristaan e baiqaraari hay

English:=== And when in the park she takes a stroll
                  My silly little heart gets out of control
                                                -

Urdu:  Wo hi sadrang naalafarsaaie
          Wo hi sadgoona ashkbaari hay

English:=== To contain my sorrow I try and try
                  And when I fail, I moan and cry
                                                -

Urdu:  Phir jiger khoadnay laga naakhun
          Aamad e fasl e laalakaari hay

English:=== Like a bird without flower I wail and wail
                  And dig my wounds with my fingernail
                                            -

Urdu:  Jalwa phir arz e naaz kerta hay
          Roz e baazaar e jaansapaari hay

English:=== Oh, I cannot explain; I can't tell you why?
                  But at her feet I would like to die
                                                -

Urdu:  Phir usi baiwafa pay mertay haen
          Phir wohi zindagi hamaari hay

English:=== So she's my life, my only goal
                  And love her I do with my heart and soul
                                                -

Urdu:  Phir khula hay der e adaalat e naaz
          Girm bazaar e foajdaari hay

English:=== The rules she makes you cannot repeal
                  And to no other jury can you appeal
                                                  -

Urdu:  Ho raha hay jahaan maen andhair
          Zulf ki phir serishtadaari hay

English:=== And whether it is fair or not so fair
                  We're all the prisoners of her curly hair
                                                  -     

Urdu:  Phir diya paara e jiger nay sawaal
          Aek feryaad o aah o zaari hay

English:=== Your sin of loving her she'll not condone
                  She'll make you cry, and moan, and groan
                                                  -

Urdu:  Phir huay haen gawaah e ishq talab
          Ashkbaari ka hukm jaari hay

English:=== You can bring your friends to testify
                  But you'll be ordered to forever cry
                                                    -

Urdu:  Dil o mizhgaan ka jo muqadma tha
          Aaj phir us ki roobakaari hay

English:=== For the rest of your life you'll have the blues
                  And she'll surely win and you're bound to lose
                                                    -

Urdu:  Baikhudi baisabab naheen GHALIB
          Kuchh toe hay jis ki perdadaari hay

English:=== And, GHALIB, forever she'll put you in a trance
                  And on her tune she'll make you dance
