Mystery Girl

You wonder why I giggle
At the slightest thing you say,
Why I’m tongue-tied when I talk to you,
Even though I have a way with words;

How am I so certain and so anxiously unsure
That you’re the one or that I’m dreaming.
What’s this new unsettled feeling?
I haven’t felt this way before.

Is it fate or mere coincidence
That we share so many qualities,
And our tastes are so alike,
That we were fast friends from the start?

Is this the way it happens?
A nervous laugh, a silly smile,
A perfect conversation
Between two wanderers in the world.

I can’t deny that I’ve invested
More than a little of my feelings,
Into the possibilities you inspire
With your sweetly spoken words;

You like my sweet romantic antics,
You answer almost all my questions,
But you never give up all your secrets,
You’re still my mystery girl.
