Let it happen

One black one white
one young one old
one smart one smarter
one writes one tries.

Friendship comes in all shapes and sizes
never is it simple to create and maintain.

Yet it’s easy to have and to hold
don’t try too hard, let it come
when you least expect it
there it is.

Some think Internet friends aren’t real
there is no physical existence
just ideas, opinions and thoughts.
They exist therefore there are.

I’m ok you’re ok, why care about the physical?
It can ruin a good thing,
freedom of expression
without stereotypes and prejudices.

The World needs more friendship
less conflict and hatred
people have more in common
than in difference.

It takes effort to look beyond the physical
Engage in conversation.
Listen and explore the
reasoning of another.

They could be right or wrong
which isn’t the purpose of friendship.
Relax and understand, let it happen
discover friendship, enrich your life.

That’s the end of this herky-jerky poem
simple thoughts often overlooked
in the complicated ways of the planet.
