WELCOME TO THE UNOFFICIAL GRAMMAR NEWSLETTER !
Lorien
We all know how important proper mechanics can be. No matter how inventive, original and compelling your writing may be, you'll never find a publisher if your short stories are riddled with errors. English grammar may seem daunting at first, but mastering it is vital for writers' future success. Here at the Unofficial Grammar Newsletter, we want to help make English grammar comprehension as user-friendly as possible, so you can focus more on writing and less on technicalities. Everyone struggles with grammar conundrums from time to time. Often the time we might spend writing, revising, and improving the plot of a story is spent instead on painstakingly picking out typos and grammatical errors. The purpose of this newsletter is to educate writers on important grammar and mechanics techniques in order to weave good grammar and style into strong writing. This newsletter might be considered "Grammar for Writers." This newsletter is not a series of lectures on obscure, 18th-century grammar points. Rather, each issue will target one specific problem affecting writers, explain incorrect and correct usage, give examples and point you in the right direction for future writing. We will cover topics from simple mistakes (its vs. it's, for instance) to more complex usage (proper placement of subjunctive tense). All Writing.com members are welcome to join, regardless of case color, writing style, native language, past grammar training or publication status. We know that this newsletter will serve as an introduction to grammar for some writers and a refresher course for others, but we believe that good grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., are vital to writers of all skill levels. If you agree, this newsletter is for you! Perks of membership: BulletA hot-off-the-presses Grammar Newsletter delivered straight to your inbox every two weeks.
