Urdu: Jis bazm maen too naaz say guftaar maen aaway Jaan kalibad e sorat e deewaar maen aaway English:=== Oh, in her salon when she start to talk To pick up the pearls around her they flock - Urdu: Saa'ay ki terheh saath phiraen sarv o sanober Too is qad e dilkash say jo gulzaar maen aaway English:=== And when in the park she takes a walk All the cypress trees, they start to rock - Urdu: Tab naaz e garaanmaaigi e ashk ba ja hay Jab lakht e jiger deeda e khoonbaar maen aaway English:=== But no one cares for the lovers' tears Unless the blood in their eyes appears - Urdu: Day mujh ko shikaayat ki ijaazat keh sitamger Kuchh tujh ko maza bhee meray aazaar maen aaway English:=== And nobody cares if they do not complain Of the wounds of love, and pangs, and pain - Urdu: Us chashm e fasoonger ka ager paa'ay ishaara Tooti ki terheh aaiena guftaar maen aaway English:=== When she looks at it, her charming eyes They enchant the mirror and mesmerize - Urdu: Kaantoun ki zabaan sookh gaie piaas sat ya Rab Ik aablapaa waadi e purkhaar maen aaway - English:=== And the thorns get dried in the desert heat If she doesn't feed them on her lovers' feet - Urdu: Mer jaaoun na kuin rashk say jab wo tan e naazuk Aagoask e kham e halqa e zinnaar maen aaway English:=== But when she binds on her lovers the spell Oh, how they love her, their infidel - Urdu: Ghaaratger e namoos na ho ger hawas e zar Kuin shaahid e gul bagh say baazaar maen aaway English:=== But the beautiful girls do love the gold Likes tulips and roses they are bought and sold - Urdu: Tab chaak e gareebaan ka maza hay dil e naalaan Jab ik nafas uljha hua her taar maen aaway English:=== And the lovers watch with great despair And rip their clothes and tear their hair - Urdu: Aatishkada hay seena mera raaz e nihaan say Aey wa'ay ager maariz e izhaar maen aaway English:=== Their breaths have fire, and their hearts have pain But they hide their wounds, and do not complain - Urdu: Ganjeena e maani ka tilism us ko samajhiay Jo lafz keh GHALIB meray asha'ar maen aaway English:=== And though they may sound quite absurd But, GHALIB, it has meaning. their every word =====
