250 Word YA Writing Contest

Have a YA novel, or YA novel idea, tucked away for a rainy day? Have no idea how to pitch an agent or query an editor? No problem. All you have to do is submit the first 250 words of your novel and you can win both exposure to agents, and a one-on-one chat with one of New York’s TOP literary agent.



Regina Brooks (founder of Serendipity Literary Agency and author of Writing Great Books for Young Adults) as well as top YA editors at Random House, HarperCollins, Harlequin, Sourcebooks and Penguin, are teaming up to encourage fresh new voices to submit a catching opening to their YA novel. The Top 20 Entrants will be looked at by editors at the above mentioned publishing houses, and will all receive autographed copies of Writing Great Books for Young Adults by Regina Brooks. Of those 20, the editors will select 5 winners which will receive a one-on-one 15 minute pitch session to present their project to Regina Brooks, and will receive commentary on their submission from the editors. The Grand Prize Winner will receive the pitch session, commentary by the editors AND a FREE, 10-week writing course, courtesy of Gotham Writers' Workshop.
