Urdu:  Na hui ger meray mernay say tasalli, na sahi
          Imtahaan aur bhee baaqi ho toe yeh bhee na sahi

English:=== When I died, she said that I wasn't tough
                  And that she could not test me enough
                                            -

Urdu:  Khaarkhaar e alam e hasrat e deedaar toe hay
          Shouq gulcheen e gulistaan e tasalli, na sahi

English:=== I do not regret that I finally died
                  But I'm sorry she wasn't there by my side
                                              -

Urdu:  Maiparastaan, khum e mai munh say laga'ay hi banay
          Aek din ger na hua bazm maen saaqi, na sahi

English:=== I can have the wine, though I despair
                  When the maid of the bar I can't find there
                                                -

Urdu:  Nafas e Qais keh hay chashm o charaagh e sahra
          Ger naheen sham e siyehkhaana e Laila, na sahi 

English:=== The desert is happy when lovers are there
                  But whether they're happy, it does not care 
                                                  -

Urdu:  Aek hangaamay pay moaqoof hay gher ki ronaq
          Noha e gham hi sahi, naghma e shaadi na sahi

English:=== And as long as there is a lot of fanfare
                  Whether it's wedding or funeral, it does not care
                                                    -

Urdu:  Na sataaish ki tamanna, na silay ki perwa
          Ger naheen haen meray asha'ar maen maani, na sahi

English:=== I give to my verses whatever I've got
                  And don't care if they're popular or not
                                                  -

Urdu:  Ishrat e sohbat e khoobaan hi ghaneemat samjho
          Na hoie GHALIB ager umr e tabeeie, na sahi   

English:=== And, GHALIB, I know you won't agree
                  But with the beautiful girls I like to be
                                                ====
