“Healthcare Bust”
By: Joseph Michael Webb
October 23, 2009
Shallow gasps for air escape the lungs of little ones
Daily in this land forgotten by time and those with power
The elderly persons’ beds become empty quite quickly
Struck down by illnesses, injury, and simply old age
Healthcare reform is all about the green and power
Control over me, you, and most importantly the dying
Nobody seems to mind, the feeling isn’t concerning
Like it was all a bad dream, now we’re looking everywhere…
One of the biggest flaws with healthcare is living too long?
So let’s remove the sick and terminal patients from their beds?
Replaced by those with a glorified cough and sneeze
And the soon-to-be-dead die wherever they can, in pain
Let’s tax the dying to the extreme and force them into poverty
All to fund our great ambitions like government-paid abortions
And to seize control over every aspect of our once-personal lives
Like what treatments we are eligible—based on earning potential
I fully accept that healthcare does need reform, I agree
But let’s not base our worth in medicine on how much we earn
This is purely prejudice against the poor, the old, and the dying
What sort of liberal ideals does this to true Americans?
