Dear Me,

Well, it’s almost here—the insanity of NaNoWri is just around the corner.  The last day or so I’ve been questioning my judgement about signing up for this—but I’ve made the commitment so there’s no going back now.

I have a great story line.  I’ve done lots of research and have it organized and at my fingertips.  And The NaNoPrep Challenge has been forcing me to write out some good preliminary pieces.  I’ve been immersing myself in my story and characters and am ready to go.

And as added incentive I’m going to hang up the drawing for my Lizzie Borden rug—I might even put up the rug!  I need to eat, sleep and live my story (short of murder of course).

I promise to treat myself to something every day I write 1,700 words in a day.  I also want to try and actually go to at least one of the Tucson NaNoWri meetings.  Not only will participating with other writers—in person—be good to keep me on track with my daily goals, it will be wonderful to meet face to face with other people experiencing the same hopes and frustration that I do.

The first week of the contest will be the most challenging because of being in Texas.  I want to spend time with my rug-hooking friends, but I must write each day between class and dinner.  That should give me about an hour and a half of quiet time.  I have to go to sleep the night before focused on the next days writing.

Be the book…………

And never forget that it doesn’t matter if I hit my goal, as long as I did my best.

Have a good time in Texas, but remember your goals for the year.

Love,

Me
