Love Was Pain But True

Let me love you,
here and now,
without the need for words.
For we moved past that,
a long time ago.

Feeling, seeing, breathing,
it is enough just to be.
Black and white matters not,
while you lay here touching me.

Each touch like the strands,
of a warm, life-giving sun.
Enjoying the feel of hands,
touching forgotten places,
one by one.

You are here and so am I.
We are still alive and tense.
Help me touch you, reach you,
tired of suffering at our expense.

The finite and full-blown,
I want it all again with you.
The only love I've ever known,
where love was pain but true.
