Because I Love You
        by Kristi  (kristilove@Writing.Com)
Oh, Mother, just leave me alone
can't you see I know what I'm doing?
No, I know that something is up
I can tell from all the gum you are chewing.

Why can't you just let me be?
I'm old enough to do what I please.
Because I love you – you're my only child
and you don't need to be in possession of these.

What have you been doing?
Going through all my things?
This happens to be my house, little girl –
start respecting me for a change.

How about if I just move out?
Then you won't have to worry anymore.
You don't understand – probably never will –
my heart breaks when you walk out the door.
