Rays of sunlight danced through the dappled shade. Two lovers kissed entranced. Promises were made. Wedding bells soon rang for new man and wife. A true-love song they sang starting their new life. Honeymoons must end. Often, it’s too soon. Rifts formed too wide to mend; hearts weren’t in attune. Though filled with regret, they both would not change. Once so much in love, yet they became estranged. Their marriage still young, ended in divorce. Songs were left unsung. They found no remorse. Life gets in the way often of romance. Its twists and turns allay. Problems are enhanced. Now, they are apart with “what might have been”. Two torn and twisted hearts filled with much chagrin. Promises were made, in that distant past and like the dappled shade promises don’t last. 32 lines
