CONTEST ROUND: Write a commitment letter to yourself, promising to do your best during the month of November, and vowing to not allow distractions or procrastination to keep you from your goal. Explain in the letter why you are awesome, how you plan to complete NaNo 2009, and what you will do to celebrate when you win.
Dear Future Self: What are you doing reading this letter! Shouldn't you be writing? I mean, I know you, and I know that you are not so far ahead that you can be reading this (or playing Facebook games!) You need to do your best to make the goal. If you write 2000 words for the first 5 days then you can have a little bit of breathing room. Do not allow Facebook or bitgammer to take your mind away from what is important, and that is WRITING!! You are an awesome writer, so do not be discouraged. You can do this as long as you commit to about an hour everyday. Make it the first thing that you do when you get home from school. All you have to do is write 1700 words a day or more! Not to mention a lot of the prep work should help, and I wrote some of it so that you can literally copy and paste it into your story.NO EDITING. Grammar and style are not that important on the first draft. If I complete NaNo, it will be 5 days before my birthday! So I will celebrate by buying a year long Writing.com membership as a gift to myself for showing commitment and self control. Good Luck writing Future me! Sarah
