Child abuse dates back to nearly the beginning of time. Children have held little significance in the lives of adults beyond being a living vessel in which to deposit their anger, lust, inadequacies and assaults. They have been treated as disposable commodities with no power to usurp the authority of their owners. These children are valuable only in their ability to withstand the utilization and torment imposed upon them.
It is understood that children will continue to be used in this manner. Their value and importance is so incredibly insignificant that our society places a much higher price on the abuse, abandonment and cruelty of animals. These children, regardless of their origin, are the future of civilization. They will become the sum of the atrocities committed against them and heirs to a social order of disgrace.
The treasure of our globe is our offspring. They will grow to their levels of dysfunction, varying only in their ability to suppress the lingering consequences of mental, physical, emotional and sexual atrocities. Abandonment and neglect, merely cohabitants, will breed the same.
My Rules is but one story of such a vessel. It was written purposely in fiction to protect the privacy of the individual willing to share the details of her life and to write it in such a way as to cover all that was necessary. The lingering consequences for this woman were many, including drug and alcohol abuse, dissociative amnesia, complex post traumatic stress disorder, and a form of dissociative identity disorder. The abuse she suffered at the hands of her parents left her no other choice but to continue abusing herself. Although her story has a rewarding finale, it took all of her adult years to achieve some form of peace and reconciliation within herself.
Rachael has asked that I tell you that she feels her life was wasted by not being allowed to have a life of freedom to dream of what she could become or achieve. Instead she spent her life identifying and repairing damage and hoping one day it would end. One day it will, God willing.
Special Note: If you've read some of the items in my portfolio, you may recognize some of them in this story as it progresses. They were written to work out some details and will now be compiled into a complete work. Chapter One will be posted soon.
