ADAM’S MEMORIES!

My darling Eve, we must hurry now.
Our time has ended here
And we are cast out.
Look upon this place
But once more, before
We depart from it – forever.

Of all things that we have lost,
I shall miss this place the most.
Here, where first we made our home.
Where first I woke and found
God’s greatest gift, and blessing,
Sleeping at my side.

Heaven like, it seems to me.
No more so, than when we would lay
Beside the pond here in the evening,
And you would sing about the stars
Reflecting on the water.

And when the water was still,
With you looking into it,
I somehow knew that I must
Keep that image safely in my mind,
Not understanding why, until now.

For, as we depart this place forever,
It shall forever be – Paradise to me.
