Urdu:  Chaahiay achhoun ko jitna chaahiay
          Yeh ager chaahaen toe phir kya chaahiay

English:=== If you only make friends with those who're nice
                  You'll surely be living in an earthly paradise
                                            -

Urdu:  Sohbat e rindaan say waajib hay hazar
          Ja e mai apnay ko khaincha chaahiay

English:=== From the company of topers you ought to shrink
                  And too much liquor you should not drink
                                            -

Urdu:  Chaahnay ko taeray kya samjha tha dil
          Baaray ab us say bhee samjha chaahiay

English:=== Your wayward heart you ought to control
                  Otherwise your flirting will take its toll
                                              -

Urdu:  Chaak mat ker jaib bai ayyaam e gul
          Kuchh idher ka bhee ishaara chaahiay

English:=== And don't go wild until it's spring
                  Let the flowers smile, and the bluebirds sing
                                                -

Urdu:  Dosti ka perda hay baigaangi
          Munh chhupaana hum say chhorha chaahiay

English:=== From your loving friend don't hide your face
                  And his tender affection please don't debase
                                                -

Urdu:  Dushmani nay maeri khhoya ghair ko
          Kis qader dushman hay, daekha chaahiay

English:=== And pay no attention to his terrible foe
                  For he likes to boast; he loves to crow   
                                                -

Urdu:  Apni ruswaaie maen kya chalti hay se'e
          Yaar hi hungaama'aara  chaahiay

English:=== Wherever you go, you cause a riot
                  But your lover does like his peace and quiet
                                                  -

Urdu:  Munhaser mernay pay ho jis ki umeed
          Naaumeedi us ki daekha chaahiay

English:=== The woes of living he cannot bear
                  And since he can't die, you should see his despair
                                                  -

Urdu:  Ghaafil in mehtal'atoun kay waastay
          Chahnay waala bhee achha chaahiay

English:  But he also loves the beautiful girls
              And adores their eyes, their raven curls
                                                  -

Urdu:  Chaahtay haen khoobrooun  ko ASAD
          Aap ki soorat toe daeha chaahiay

English:=== But a beauty before he tries to hook
                  Says GHALIB, in the mirror he ought to look
