Separate Ways

Backs turned to each other,
We start to walk away,
Steps hesitating,
Desperate for something to say.

I stopped to turn and look at you,
And suddenly met your gaze,
Something told us to take this chance,
But our pride kept us in place.

We weren't ready to admit we're wrong,
Our mistakes we couldn't face,
So step by step we continue,
Going our separate ways.
