We called her Penny. Her full nickname was act'lly Got no penny, but we din't have time ta say that. We din't tell 'ch other our rill names much. Only if'n it wa'n't too embare-sing or none and if she wuz you girl. I wish't sometimes Penny wuz my girl, but she wuz in tha groop, an' you don' get wit' no girl in tha groop. We got older an' such, an' she got lots prett-yer. She began to look lak a woman, an' not a girl. But you don' be get wit' a girl in tha groop. And then she din't hang out so much no more. An' we din't see her fer three months. Thenwe foun' out where she been. She join the valn-tine gang. She wouldn' talk to no kids lak us, she say. An' she say she been havin' a good ole time, she been wit' lots of guys, she been in street races, she been fightin' sum too. An' she say we should join too. But me an' my buddy Bean, we say we think about it.
