“My Iron Tomb”
By: Joseph Michael Webb
November 2, 2009
The water rises and swells rush through
beneath this iron tomb that I call home.
Thunder roars wildly with a heinous sound;
it reverberates through this vacuous boat
and seizes my attention and drives me mad!
Outside the wind blows at hurricane force.
Water crashes aboard and begins to flood
the entire craft and my fear rises instantly.
The eerie echo coming through the vessel
is deafening like an evil ghost in my head.
The storm will surely overtake me soon.
This small liner cannot take much more
water, winds, or waves before sinking.
To capsize into the deep ocean below,
so I grab my whiskey, pray, and drink.
