Colorful Illusions
        by Nani - Away4AWhile  (counselormom@Writing.Com)
My colorful illusions
cloud the corners of my mind;
mirages of a life long ago.
More precious are these visions
than all of Midas’ gold
or treasure that I may ever know.

The voices of loved ones,
who no longer this sod tread,
whisper to me softly in my ear.
They’re gone but not forgotten.
They’re loved both then and now;
sounds that I have often longed to hear.

Children, now grown and married,
I see their lives again
rewinding and replaying at will.
So many joyous memories,
so many more to add,
before my time here has been fulfilled.

A new love’s soft first kisses,
a nervous blushing bride,
and a husband’s special smile and touch,
all color my illusions
as I wander through my mind
remembering things I love so much.

I find as I grow older
more time I seem to spend
thinking about the things now past.
How quickly was the journey
from childhood to old age!
It seems that “old” got here far too fast.
