You always knew.
You asked why I walked with you, Why I would not miss a step. You asked why I talked with you, Why your words I’ve always kept. You asked why I sat with you, Why I would not leave your side, You asked why I sang with you, Why I would not run and hide. You asked why I lived with you, Why I would not move away. You asked why I loved you, Why I would never, ever stray. I asked why you loved me, Why you had never fled. You looked at me and smiled, knowing answers would go unsaid.
