Do you feel that uncertainty?
Sense something ain't quite right?
Sensations overwhelming me,
give me a mighty fright.
Just bury yourself in science son,
that place where certain rules.
For here the battle's already won,
any other way's just for fools.
We know what's true, we know what's lies,
those religious ones, they waste their lives.
They wonder and they ponder on,
the impossibilities.
The thing to set your mind upon,
is just the certainties.
Old man, I've tried that fruitless path,
and it just ain't for me.
The truth it holds ain't even half,
and the minds it creates aren't free.
So off you go to your theories,
to speak of cells and neurons.
But know you've answered no queries,
you've just made up some new ones.
For science is nothing but a toy,
like the rest of this wide world.
It captures the mind of the young boy,
but soon it comes unfurled.
For science only goes so deep,
and it is far too stiff.
If it can't answer, it goes to sleep,
it rarely asks: “What if?”
That's not to say it isn't fun,
to exercise your brain.
But science isn't the true “one”,
just seems so cos it's vain.
But give it time, my dear old friend,
and you will see that too.
If you will really never bend,
in death it will come true.
Science is like all religions,
so self-assured and savage.
But now the freer-thinking ones,
are uncovering age-old baggage.
Heisenberg found a point of light,
but so many more will come.
Can you claim your certainly right,
if everything is, at base, random?
If you build a pyramid based on an assumption other than “I think, therefore I am”,
In time that assumption will be repealed, crushing your work before you can say:
