The Elements of poetry
teach timing, tone and pitch Acrostic, Cinquain or sonnet I really don't know which. My head is full of words that have no reason or rhyme. But just like musical chords they need to be written in time. Should I write the words as prose or maybe iambic pentameter. With careful use of the latter my verses would probably sound better. The rhythm of the verse should roll smoothly off the tongue. But then the question is - to keep them short, or long. To use quotation, simile or metaphore, onomatopoiea, alliteration or assonance. My brain is in such a whirl that I really don't stand a chance. With all these elements of poetry I really should run a mile. But I think I'll stick it out for now and find my very own style.
