Urdu:  Kabhee naiki bhee us kay jee maen ger aa jaay hay mujh say
          Jafaaen ker kay apni yaad sherma jaay hay mujh say

English:=== Even when she's sorry about my plight
                  She wouldn't come to me; she's so contrite
                                          -

Urdu:  Khada ya jazba e dil ki mager taaseer ulti hay
          Keh jitna khaichta houn aur khinchta jaay hay mujh say

English:=== And when I pull her, she pushes me away
                  Oh, this pulling and pushing are here to stay
                                            -

Urdu:  Wo badkhoo aur maeri daastaan e ishq toolaani
          Ibaarat mukhtasar, qaasid bhee ghabra jaay hay mujh say

English:=== When I tell her my tale, I come on strong
                  And I turn her off, it becomes too long
                                              -

Urdu:  Udher wo badgumaani hay, idher yeh natawaani hay 
          Na poochha jaay hay us say, na bola jaay hay mujh say

English:=== So she does not listen, and I cannot talk
                  For I am a dove, and she is a hawk
                                              -

Urdu:  Sanbhalnay day mujhay aey naaumeedi, kya qayaamat hay
          Keh daamaan e khayaal e yaar choota jaay hay mujh say

English:=== But I tell my despair when it becomes extreme
                  Don't let me lose O please my dream
                                              -

Urdu:  Takalluf ber taraf, nazzargi maen bhee sahi laikin
          Wo daekha jaay, kab yeh zulm daekha jaay hau mujh say

English:=== When they come to see her from everywhere
                  Their looking at her I cannot bear
                                                -

Urdu:  Huay haen paoun hi pehlay naburd e ishq maen zakhmi
          Na bhaaga jaay hay mujh say, na therhra jaay hay mujh say

English:=== In the battle of love I feel dismay
                  I can neither leave nor can I stay
                                                -

Urdu:  Qayaamat hay keh howay muddayi ka humsafer GHA:LIB
          Wo kaafir jo Khuda ko bhee na sonpa jaay hay mujh say 

English:=== And, GHALIB, this object of my love and lust
                  Even to God I cannot entrust
                                                ====
