Urdu:  Baazeecha e atfaal hay dunya meray aagay
          Hota hay shab o roz tamaasha meray aagay

English:=== Everything in the world is in disarray
                  To me it looks like a child's play
                                          -

Urdu:  Ik khhail hay aurang e Suleimaan meray nazdeek
          Ik baat hay aijaaz e Maseeha meray aagay

English:=== The throne of Solomon isn't worth much 
                  And the touch of Jesus is only a touch
                                            -

Urdu:  Juz naam naheen soorat e aalam mujhay manzoor
          Juz wehm naheen hasti e ashia meray aagay

English:=== The basis of being is greatly in doubt
                  And it's hard to guess what it's all about
                                              -

Urdu:  Hota hay nihaan gard maen sehara meray hotay
          Ghista hat jabeen khaak pay darya meray aagay

English:=== And in the ocean I see nothing grand
                  And the desert to me is a handful of sand
                                              -

Urdu:  Phir daekhiay andaaz e gulafshaani e guftaar
          Rakh day koie paimaana e sehba meray aagay

English:=== And after drinking a little bit of wine
                  When I start to talk, I shine and shine
                                                -

Urdu:  Eimaan mujhay roekay hay jo khainchay hay mujhay kufr
          Kaaba meray peechay hay, kaleesa meray aagay

English:=== And I see in there the image divine
                  Whether it's a temple, a mosque, or a shrine
                                                  -

Urdu:  Mat poochh keh kya haal hay maera teray peechhay
          Too daekh keh kya rang hay taera meray aagay

English:=== With my gal my life is full of bloom
                  And when she's away, there's nothing but gloom
                                                -   

Urdu:  Such kehtay ho khudbeen o khudaaraa  houn, na kuin houn
          Baitha hay but e aainaseema meray aagay

English:=== Her cheek is shiny like a looking glass
                  Which gives my image a certain class
                                                -

Urdu:  Nafrat ka gumaan guzray hay, maen rashk say guzra
          Kuinker kahoun lo naam na un ka meray aagay

English:=== But I do feel a tinge of jealousy
                  When they rave about her in front of me
                                                  -

Urdu:  Aashiq houn pay maashooqfaraibi hay mera kaam
          Majno ko bura kehti hay Laila meray aagay

English:=== With the beautiful girls I like to be
                  And Juliets over Romeos do prefer me
                                                  -

Urdu:  Khush hotay haen per wasl maen yuin mer naheen jaatay
          Aaie shab e hijraan ki tamanna merat aagay

English:=== With them my life is full of delight
                  And without them dark and bleak is my night
                                                  -

Urdu:  Hay moajzan ik qulzum e khoon, kaash yehi ho
          Aata hay abhee daekhiay kya kya meray aagay

English:=== And in their absence I must concede
                  My poor heart breaks, and I bleed and bleed
                                                  -

Urdu:  Go haath maen junbish naheen aankhoun men toe dam hay
          Rehnay do abhee saagher o meena meray aagay

English:=== I know I'm weak, but as long as I can see
                  Please leave a little wine in front of me
                                                  -

Urdu:  Humpaisha o hummushrab o o humraaz hay maera 
          GHALIB ko bura kuin kaho, achha meray aagay

English:=== And though I must say I sound rather mad
                  But, GHALIB, you know it's not that bad
