The Pope Came To My House

The Pope came to my house with all of his coffering
majestic in white and bright as a star
and everyone tried to get a piece of his offering
as he walked into my home away from the gathering crowd
the police came to my aid cause they were spiritually loud
now safe in my home I needed to ask him
a thing or two about Catholicism
my door was wide open so friends and neighbors continued to come
so I held on to my thoughts not wanting to sum
I'd ask him much later when I knew he'd be fine
then I went on to church to test the red wine
but they came much to soon and I didn't have time
I'd been thinking all day about what questions to ask
knowing with my heart it would be such a task
the man lives like a king and is revered like a god
so I had to remember
any questions I asked didn't come with a rod

why must we eat bread and drink wine at every mass?
why must we confess our sins to men of your class?
why must we kneel before statues of saints when we pray?
on passing my way
he looked at me with a smile
and it was as our minds connected and I heard what he had to say
"the bread and the wine recreate the body and blood of Christ offered at the last supper;"
"taking part in this means you will be living a pure life without sin and proper"
"we confess our sins to God through the priest and he will guide you with prayer"
"a statue is only there to venerate, so be sure your heart is with God,"
"because a statue will never hear a sayer"
in that short span I got all my answers
as he continued on to start his service
I stood in solitude with my quest just activated in earnest
