New Prompt! Your grandmother dies and leaves you a trunk full of stuff. What do you find inside? What do you learn about your grandmother that you didn’t know before? Does this change your life in any way? CHERISHED Grandmother cherished many things of heart, worth more to her than I will ever know. Knowing her was only to know a part of the elegant lady I loved so. Practical to the very core of her-- only bought what she knew that she could use because she remembered when she endured life's scarcity and hunger, and refused to be caught wanting by Depression's lack of goods or comforts; she had suffered much from that hard era--didn't want it back and saw that frugal living, careful touch would avert the crisis she feared deep down-- the remnants left from her frugal world reflect devotion to eternal crown, beloved family, their flag unfurl'd. So, finding her best treasures brought surprise to my young soul, so tempted with easy glitz of my disposable modern life; to view her modest pleasures made me see her life's happiness, her unexpressed joys-- what she kept and left in her trunk to me was a composite of her life; the noise of the hard times absorbed by the beauty which escaped from her soul, recovered in possessions, long dusty but touched by love of a simple woman trying to win at a life ruled by faith from Above!
