Sat upon the freezing cold concrete step she began regretting the choice to wear a mini skirt. Eliza wrapped sweater clad arms around her knees that were slowly turning white with cold and tried to force her body to stop shivering.

“I can’t believe he’s late.”

Misty warm breath created clouds of smoke as she spoke to herself quietly. A dark blue car approached, slowing down as it passed before turning the corner. It was obvious the driver had slowed to look at her, but she was used to it. It was the long perfectly formed crimson curls spilling down her back that caused heads to turn.

Her arm stretched out to gently caress the brown package beside her, before reaching back around to resume leg hugging duty. Her head dipped forwards and eyes fluttered closed. She drifted away to a desert island with white sandy beaches and crystal blue ocean waves gently pushing themselves along the shoreline. The sun glowed lovingly on icy cheekbones. Before long she began to actually feel warm.

“Hope you haven’t been waiting long.”

Eliza jumped out of her dream world, back into reality. She stood up with the full intention of berating him for being so late, but then the dreamy green eyes locked onto hers and suddenly all the anger drifted away.

“Where is it then?”

She reached down to pick up the brown package, only to find it had completely disappeared. Panicking, she spun around,

“It was here a minute ago…”

“Come on Eliza, where did you take it?”

A puzzled expression appeared on her face as she tried to think what had happened. Then a vision appeared as clear as day, upon the sandy shoreline of the imagined beach sat a little brown package, warming itself in the sun.
