Urdu:  Jab tak dahaan e zakhm na paida keray koie
          Mushkil hay tujh say raah e sukhan wa keray koie

English:=== Before you tell her, "I love you so"
                  Your open wounds you'll have to show
                                          -

Urdu:  Aalam ghubaar e wehshat e Majno hay ser ba ser
          Kab tak khayaal e turra e Laila keray koie

English:=== And Romeo has his great despair
                  Because of the curls of Juliet's hair
                                          -

Urdu:  Afsurdagi naheen tarabinsha e iltafaat
          Haan dard ban kay dil maen mager ja keray koie

English:=== You can't have love without the ache
                  Your heart must yearn; it also must break
                                            -

Urdu:  Ronay say aey nadeem malaamat na ker mujhay
          Aakhir kabhee toe uqda e dil wa keray koie

English:=== The laws of love you cannot defy
                  You sit all night and cry and cry
                                            -

Urdu:  Chaak e jiger say jab reh e pursish na wa hoie
          Kya faaida keh jaib ko ruswa keray koie

English:=== And if your sorrow you cannot bear
                  The clothes on your body you then have to tear
                                              -

Urdu:  Lakht e jiger say hay rag e her khaar shaakh e gul
          Ta chand baaghbaani e sehera keray koie

English:=== If you can't get your rose and feel lovelorn
                  With your tears of blood you nourish the thorn
                                              -

Urdu:  Naakaami e nigaah hay barq e nazaarasoaz
          Toe wo naheen keh tujh ko tamaasha keray koie

English:=== And if one day with her you can be
                  You'll be dazzled, and her you won't see
                                                -

Urdu:  Her sang o khisht hay sadaf e goher a shakist
          Nuqsaan naheen junoon say jo soda keray koie

English:=== And if your madness you cannot subdue
                  Everyone will throw stones at you
                                                -

Urdu:  Ser ber hoie na waada e sabraazma say umr         
          Fursat kahaan keh taeri tamanna keray koie

English:=== If you invite her, and she doesn't come
                  You must accept it, and do not be glum
                                                  -

Urdu:  Hay wehshat e tabeeyat e eijaad yaaskhaiz
          Yeh dard wo naheen keh na paida keray koie

English:=== But if your sorrow gets harder to bear
                  Don't get depressed, and do not despair
                                                    -

Urdu:  Baikaari e junooon ko hay ser peetnay ka shaghl
          Jab haath toot jaaen toe phir kya keray koie

English:=== And if it doesn't turn out the way you planned
                  Don't bang your head against your hand
                                                    -

Urdu:  Husn e faroagh e sham e sukhan dour hay ASAD
          Pehlay dil e gudaakhta paida keray koie

English:=== And GHALIB says if it gets much worse
                  Your shattered heart you put in your verse
