A recurring use of jigsaw puzzles as metaphors furnish the inspiration for the evolution of this competition.
The Missing Piece makes the comparison to a dysfunctional family. Each member represents an integral component (a piece) to complete the picture.

Dreamers and Deep Fryers uses a disintegrating puzzle to symbolize time running out as balance is sought between chasing dreams and obligations to family and friends.

Borrowing from these themes,  I offer a metaphor of my own.
PITCH: Twenty-Three Pieces - Chelsea snaps together into a literary portrait; a mosaic suitable for publishing as an anthology. :o)

In Community Healing, a satirical letter-to-the-editor rips the newspaper a new one for abandoning the town in the time of crisis. Cannot wait to see it in print rolling off CanU's presses, to smell it in the cheap newsprint and ink. It validates my postulation that CanU's approach to community newspapers is a disservice to its readers. Reading between the lines it screams  "Not only have you abandoned us, you treat us like moronic page flippers! You do not seriously expect us to read this stuff!"

This submission makes it all worthwhile. Kudos! :o)
