Our Thanksgiving day
Is a great celebration
With friends and loved ones.

Pilgrims and natives
Gathered together in thanks
Many years ago.

Thankful for bounty
And for the friendships formed here
In this strange new land.

Thankful for freedom
To worship and to live life
Without tyranny.

Many years have passed
Since fall 1621,
The first Thanksgiving.

Yet we still gather
For prayer and for feasting
On this holiday.

It’s time to give thanks
For all the many blessings
God has given us.
