The Ten Commandments God's Eternal Constitution of Love and Grace Frequently Asked Questions About the Course 1. What's this course about, anyway? This is a course that WDC members participate in who want to investigate the Ten Commandments, written in the Holy Bible. Through lessons, discussions, and creative writing assignments, participants discover the meaning of the Constitution of God from its inception through tomorrow. 2. How much does the course cost? The course costs 2,500 GPs, payable at the time of application. Payment must be full payment only. We are not capable of providing partial payment options at this time. When approved for enrollment, the payment is non-refundable for any reason. 3. How long does the course last? The course is non-structured, i.e. self-paced. There are a total of fourteen (14) lessons in the course. We expect you should be able to complete one lesson every week, once you begin to study as a participant. 4. If the course is self-paced, why do I have to do a lesson every week? The course is designed for group participation. Once a group is identified, it is very helpful to the participants if they travel through the course at roughly the same speed. Because our teachers are volunteers, it also helps them plan their time to provide the mentorship expected with the students and gives them appropriate "down" time, too. 5. Can I begin the course any time? Yes, but once you begin the course as a participant, we expect you to keep up with your group. 6. What if I have to miss a week? Or more? We are proud to help our participants in any way we can to help them succeed in the course. We know that sometimes things happen "at the speed of life". As soon as you know you must miss a week, just email the instructor for instructions on making up the work. Emergencies are always excepted. Failure to notify which results in late assignment submissions will reduce the assignment grade one full letter grade. 7. There are grades? Yes, three grades actually. Assignments and discussion topics are graded both by letter and numerically, as follows: 91-100+ A 81-90 B 71-80 C 61-70 D 0-60 F Additionally, each course participant will be on a Point Value System. Points may be awarded, or deducted at the instructor's decision. Some things add points, while others deduct points. The point system, along with the Grades will be used by the instructor to award course honors to participants at the completion of the course. Some activities (attendence, participation, attitude, etc.) are at the instructor's discretion. Other factors (Assignments, Discussions, Exams, and other "set" items have a pre-determined number of points awarded or deducted within the Point System. Point Standings can always be found on the group home page of the course. 8. What if I don't believe all that "Buy Bull!" stuff? Can I join? Of course you can. There is no requirement to hold to any particular belief system in this course. This is a personal self-help course, designed to help you figure out what some things mean, and what they mean to you and for you in your daily living. It is taught from a Christian perspective because of the source of the subject: The Holy Bible. All faiths, or no faith at all is perfectly acceptable. 9. I'm not 13 years old. Can I join the course if I pay the GP? Within the guidelines and policies of WDC, yes. We do not believe age determines maturity, or ability to learn and express your own beliefs in this course. There are some serious and mature subjects discussed, but we keep it clean all the time. You should explain to your parents that you wish to apply for membership in the course first, though. We do not really encourage those less than 13 years old to enroll, but we will permit it on a case-by-case basis. 10. Is this one of those Evangelical, "preachey" courses, where you are expected to be "born again" and all that stuff? Nope. Not at all. The purpose of the course is to help you look at YOUR beliefs, not someone else's. Course participants discuss honestly and openly their ideas, opinions, and beliefs on the subjects covered. But we are mature enough to disagree without being disagreeable. Nobody's going to require a water baptism before the course is completed. 11. Are there special rules for participants while they are taking the course? Yes. Respect and courtesy are required from every course participant towards every other participant. We refer to each other as Mr., Miss, Mrs. or Ms. when communicating inside the course. The course instructor is Dr. Bud. Whichever salutation is appropriate is the one used. Disrespect or dishonorable behavior by any participant towards any other participant is grounds for immediate removal from the course, with no refund given. If you are removed from the course, you will not be invited to any other, or future courses provided here. That includes all the usual forum rules. 12. Is there anything special that I need in order to take the course? Yes, but a certain level of membership is not one of them at this time. You will need to have with you, before you begin the course: A. An established online Personal Prayer Journal (PPJ). It can be on any site, and may be created as a private Journal or Blog. If you choose to make your Personal Prayer Journal (PPJ) private, you must include your course instructor as a member. We do not judge, or "spy" on your prayers. This journal is a tool that you will use often in the preparation of your learning assignments. We will not comment on what your prayers contain, nor how they are written. Our observations will always be directly related to the course material ONLY. B.. You must have a physical copy of The Holy Bible with you at each lesson session. There are a list of additional bible resources that will be given to you inside the course, but you need a copy you can use, mark up, and reference for your assignments and lessons. C. A willing spirit. You must come expectantly to this course, with an attitude of postive energy, ready to do the work required to receive the greatest possible benefit. This helps you and the other participants with course completion. You must be willing to do the work required by the course. This may require as much as one hour each day of the week. 13. What honors are awarded for completion of the course? A. Best Student Merit Badge B. Valedictorian's Merit Badge C.Most Improved Student 25k AwardIcon on members port item of instructor's personal choice D. Course Outstanding Citizen 10kAwardIcon (member's color choice) for highest point total during course by Point System E. Other Honors and Awards as I (or you) think of them. I'm open to suggestions. (Perfect Attendance? Course Congeniality Award?) 14. Did you say "tests"? What tests? The course does include "pop" quizzes, a mid-term quiz, and a final examination. Quizzes are from 1-10 questions each. The Final Exam is 50 questions, including all types of questions. 15. That sounds like a lot of work! It IS a lot of work. But, the work is spread out over fourteen (14) individual lessons (more than three months if taken in consecutive weeks. There is plenty of review time, preparation time, and the tests have no time limit. The tests are not designed to see how well you take a test, but how much you have learned and applied. (They're really not THAT difficult, I promise!) 16. When do new lessons show up in the course? New lessons appear in the course work each Sunday evening at 9:00 WDC time. 17. When are homework assignments due? All materials for evaluation, review and/or grades must be submitted to the instructor via the {bitem} format not later than midnite each Saturday evening, WDC time. Late submissions will drop the assignment grade by one complete letter grade for each day they are late, if no prior approval is received, in writing, from the course instructor. (Two letter grades maximum per assignment, or part of an assignment. 18. When will we get our grades and such? Based upon current student load at the time you are in the course, you can expect your work to be carefully evaluated, reviewed, and graded by your instructor. You should have your work grade via private email within one week of submission. If this is not the case, please email your instructor. 19. This course kind of sounds like a tough course. How do I know if I can make it through? The course is written for a Freshman/Sophomore High School level. (But it would be at a really good High School!) I will add more FAQ's as I find a need, or as you request them. Go to the group's Home Page:"Ten Commandments Study Group" Budroe is Blessed!
