Moments
Moments slip by, no matter how you try to preserve them. Written in second person.

You don't know whether you've just woken or have been awake forever as your eyes slowly flutter open. You blink several times, trying to clear your fuzzy vision.

It clears to reveal a chest. It's covered in a tight gray t-shirt, and you, in the haze of half-sleep, come to the slow realization that it belongs to him.

Your eyes travel from his chest, to his neck, and your eyes droop as your heart melts at the sight of his face. So beautiful. The way his hair sticks up on one side, the way it presses to his forehead on another. His lips slightly parted in the serenity of sleep, his entire being relaxed. So childish, so wonderful.

You smile. Your cheeks hardly move, and your lips haven't turned up, but it's a smile nonetheless. This moment was too precious, too short. Any moment, he would awaken, and his first sight would be you. He would smile brightly, and whisper words of devotion and love to you. Both of you would start your day, and as time went on, you would forget this moment of complete serenity. This thought saddens you, but also makes you treasure this all the more.

Because what happens later happens later. Now is now, and you close your eyes in bliss, trying to engrave this moment into your memory.

Too soon, much too soon, he awakens.

"Good morning, my love."
