Love & Joy passed by me
Strolling hand in hand And though I only glimpsed the two I thought them both quite grand Joy had light around her A bright and golden hue Love -- a staunch and handsome beau Bid even birds adieu The rain had come before them The sky the clouds did blot Yet beams of light now warmed me Though sunshine there was naught! The breeze that trailed behind them Tossed my clothes and hair Surprise, for one who's quite controlled I bothered not to care Something in their passing Had left me feeling light Weight rolled off my slouching frame And now I stood full height The countenance of my soul had changed From shades of gray to gay I cast my cares away from me And turned to walk their way. 24 Lines
