Farewell to Peter Pan
A traditional poem on how a girl decided to grow up. Perspective: J.M. Barrie's Wendy

To him who floats in midair
Who carried me with ease
To him who conquers pirates
Across the seven seas

Appearing from my window
On those sleepless nights
To him whose very shadow
Was nestled in my arms

I would forget our Neverland
My never-growing prince
Discarding all my fairy dusts
I’ve treasured ever since

It’s time to leave the youth we shared
I’d take the harder way
With curtains closed, and dreamless sleep
We conclude our play

So pray take heed, for one last time
Farewell, my cherished friend.
Tinker Bell, I envy not
Great stories ought to end.
