Superstar
She isn't happy with the world she lives in; but can she be so in the land of her dreams?

A limousine zipped past the cafe where I served,
my dream car, I hoped one day I'd own.
Amazingly He did listen to my prayers,
and one day I found a magic stone.

With my fingers crossed and a chant on my lips,
I wished a life away from this dearth.
When I opened my eyes I was in the land of my dreams--
I was the most beautiful woman on Earth.

Streets gleaming with my slick posters,
I could see none but me around.
With a hundred maids and as many cars,
I lived in a dazzling palace uptown.

A four time academy award winner,
I was the highest paid actress.
Sending kisses flying wherever I went,
was far better than being a waitress.

The fantasy of a thousand cover pages,
a million dollars I charged for an inch of me.
Fans were fascinated by my candid times,
and so were the paparazzi.

Slow but steady I was reaching the thirties,
they thought I was growing just too "old".
All my Oscars became worse than the Razzies,
“Audience wants fresh faces" I was told.

Looking back I discovered some footprints,
I heaved a huge sigh of relief.
Soon I realized I could match them with mine,
"Oh my God! " I cried in disbelief.

Bank balance came crashing down,
and soon I lost my land.
There I lay lonely and wretched,
with no one to hold my hand.

I would've tucked away safely in his arms.
Now where do I distill all this shame?
I was better in dark than the limelight,
I don't want to see the other side of fame.

My cursed blessing just can't be undone,
but you can start loving whatever you are.
If you don't believe just look into the mirror,
and you'll surely find a superstar.
