In The Morning When I Say Goodbye
a song for the one you love even when she drives you crazy

Every morning when I get up
I'm in the kitchen brewing coffee
I bring a cup and cookies to your room
making sure you have the things you need
one day you tell me that you're feeling fine
the next day you look and act so strange
I grab my coat and I'm quickly out the door
late again on my way to open up the store
with my mind still at home with you
in the morning when I have to say goodbye
I have to wipe a tear from my eye

There are times you complain bout the food I make
yet you eat every little bit that's on your plate
you often let me know that you want to be alone
and then you're mad when I'm late coming home
I do appreciate this time I have with you
but you still make me so crazy
I just don't know how long this will be going on
and not sure how long I can live this way
in the morning when I say goodbye
I have to wipe a tear from my eye

Late at night when you lay down to sleep
I say a little prayer that tomorrow will be better
and that I will hear you ask for coffee
one more time
oh it's so true
the things in life we take for granted
the things you say that you don't mean
are so insane and maybe a little bit slanted
you say the lady living under us is out to get you
and the neighbor next door is taking from your garden
visitors knocking on the door never get in
I guess it's alright when you're home alone
but then again you never pick up the phone
in the morning when I say goodbye
I have to wipe a tear from my eye

You remind me how your kids never visit or call
then I see you on the phone excitingly talking with them
they never seem to be around when you take a fall
then are knocking each other down trying to get to you
these are the moments in time when you lose your mind
but it's not like a movie that I could ever rewind
I really wouldn't want to live it any other way
cause it's madness we have that keeps us together
I know deep in my heart the time now is counted
but every day that you wake with a smile is special
maybe that's why
in the morning when I say goodbye
I have to wipe a tear from my eye
