(Wizzican) *For a very long time, I sense God speaking to me through books, children's lit, inspirational fiction etc... I want to be His voice in my writing for someone else. (Phoenix) [3.] What areas of writing pose a problem for you? Answers: *plot, character (Copper) *I have a habit of not editing my work before I release it on here. I love this site for the fact that they kindly offer suggestions make me see my writing in a new light. (Iris) *First, getting down on paper what is in my head in a way that I can edit it quickly instead of it taking forever.Second, too many adjectives, verb-ing, and beating around the bush. Third, being better at critiquing my work to see the problems.(Wizzican) *I am such a beginner...that is hard to answer...I need to learn it all! (Lil Hobbit) *I don't see myself sitting down and writing a novel this week! Long term, that is something I would like to (Jenny J) * Lovable characters (Believable is the better word) Technical details to enhance the story. (Jimminy) *grammar, sentence structure and editing (and shamefully I also admit that I am a hopeless speller! (sssam) *Grammar/structure, transitions, and descriptions. (Phoenix) [4.] What genres do you read? Answers: *spiritual, detective,food/cooking (Copper) *Naturally my own, but I like to delve into everything, for it is in reading other's work that I have found new inspiration. (Iris) *Non-fiction, Fiction -- Love the classics. (Wizzican) * Inspirational Christian fiction But mostly, childrens/ and young adult books. I favor historical type fiction. If it has a sword in it, I'll read it!:)(Lil Hobbit) *Any and all.(Jenny J) *Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Supernatural horror, and a little of everything else but not so often. (Jimminy) *mostly fiction, usually mystery, romance & fantasy themes (sssam) *Contemporary fiction, fantasy, non-fiction, educational, really about anything...(Phoenix) [5.] How much a part of writing is collaborating with other writers? Answers: *Extremely crucial to being reviewed to improve one's work. Feedback will reveal aspects I have not considered looking at before. (Copper) *That is the reason I am at this site. I know there are great authors here who humbly offer their suggestions, criticism and whatever else they can offer to those of us who truly desire it. (Iris) *I don't know -- no answer for that one. Never have collaborated with other writers. (Wizzican) *I know writers are readers and I learn from reading the way people write. I think community and feedback is huge not only to learn but to get an idea if what you write is worth the read...kinda of like singing, you shouldn't be doing it professionally if you can't hit the notes :) Who would want to listen? (Lil Hobbit) *I haven't had a chance to do any of that, but am ready to try. I think that bouncing ideas off another writer will be a pleasure. (Jenny J) * Little to none. (Jimminy) *not sure- It depends by what you mean by "colaboration" but I assume that 90% of the writting task is an inbdividual issue - (sssam) * I think collaboration is required to progress to the next level. Whether formally or informally you need to discuss your craft with others who share your experience. (Phoenix)
