In the beginning we are all taught “Do this! Do that!” Others want us to be perfect, flawless, Yet it is our duty to shatter this hope; We know that one day, we will change, The expectations will be higher, The bar more dementing, And we must cast aside our freedoms; Who dares to take away one of life’s precious gifts? What power makes them bold so? If such a thing is their intent, the highest charge, The grandest crime should be accused of them; Eventually, times will be different, We must conform and die, But we will always remember the wonderful times Given us kindly in our youth
