Speeding Demons
A plea to careless drivers

Speeding down the motorway
against the driving rain.
These folks don't seem to realise
that their speed can kill or maim.

They race along regardless
doing speeds of ninety and above.
They really don't care who they hurt
even those they know and love.

Nothing seems to stop these folk
from getting their speed fix.
But conditions do not always allow
for their stupid, dangerous tricks.

When my children started driving
I could not help but worry.
I hoped they would drive carefully
and not be in such a hurry.

'It's best to get there late' I said
'Than not get there at all'.
For those who drive too fast
may end up against a wall.

Being late is not a crime
but careless driving is.
If you cause an accident
it will be on your consciences.

So for all you speed demons out there
you know who you are.
Spare a thought for yourselves and others
and drive safely in your car.
