WHO SAYS A MAN DON'T CRY
There was a poem in my mail today As I read – it had these words to say That I had sent a tape back in years past Words of poetry that with her would last. I'd recited that she was my best friend and she hoped to stay until the end I'm writing it here now so she can see There's no question it shall always be. She went on to say I'd done nice things Without attaching one hidden string Caused me to think I surely should gloat But only raised a lump in my throat. She said that tape meant a lot to her Within her heart it would always stir Knowing this lady for thirty years The words written there brought me to tears. Then I come to check on my contest And find a fine friend has gone to rest One of the best poets who graced this site With pen on paper he did it right. He mailed me often through a hard time And if he had problems gave no sign Encouraged me when all was but lost In time alone must have paid a cost. He researched every poetry scheme Until he could write them in a dream Then would pass them on to me and you So it was something we too could do. He will be missed by every friend But all the best things must one day end Now holding back tears - I really try I still ask; who says a man don't cry? ![]()
