(This is 22, no, 26, lines long, all about the price that a soldier pays to keep this country safe. I cried as I wrote it.)
Oh the cost I've paid To keep this country free Oh the cost I've paid As I became someone I shouldn't be Oh the cost I've paid As my friends lay dying Oh the cost I've paid As I laid there bleeding Oh the cost I've paid As I remember what I did Oh the cost I've paid As I'm just a kid Oh the cost I've paid All to keep my brother safe Oh the cost I've paid Keep my medals in a safe Oh the cost I've paid As my eyes closed Oh the cost I've paid As I laid there, dead Oh I paid the cost I paid the cost, the cost of freedom *This is dedicated to all of the men and women who serve in every branch of the Armed Forces, past/present/future, For Freedom does not come free. Your sacrifices will never be truly forgotten, even when time passes and memories fade away. You are Heroes All.* (A young wolf cries, as he looks out the window, for the heroes who paid the ultimate price for freedom, their lives.)
