What is that?

      In the tree there,

In its fuzzy, green, mushy state

It is pretty to someone but not me

(if I were a caterpillar, I might find it beautiful)

  But I will wait

And when this little writhing ,

    Accordion-shaped, leaf-filled

Larvae makes its cocoon

and emerges later as a colorful

monarch

    then and only then

will it be beautiful to me

  but I am picky

I wonder

         Sometimes,

If it would be

Beautiful both ways

If I could not see.
