Day Of Remembrance

DAY OF REMEMBRANCE
(November, 30, 2009)

Here I am staring out the window …
The rain is beating down like a faucet
In sync with the tears that shower my face.
I am lost in the river of emotions,
Washing over me on this day of remembrance.

I float back to the days of you and I,
To a time when we swam together,
To a time when our waves of connection,
Our waves of attraction and love, never died,
When the promises of our flow through time
Were sweet, filled with streams of hope and love,
When I felt better days on the horizon,
When my dreams of eternal happiness with you seemed real.

Now, when the waves came crashing down
On you and I, and what could have been,
When my dreams are only dreams that would never be real,
I sit here on this day of remembrance,
Drowning in my own tears,
Drowning in the memories that will never be again.
