I didn't meant to, honestly..
My thoughts about friends who tell you 'they did not mean to...'

I didn’t mean to, honestly…

You know that typical summer sunset while enjoying a good laugh in the backyard after a delicious barbeque? You and your guests are stuffed and the soft summer breeze ruffles your hair gently. And then all of a sudden without a warning it happens; someone’s counter shot an arrow across your heart.

“I didn’t mean to say it like that”

Have you ever realized how much of a lie that is? What do you mean ‘you didn’t mean to’ you meant to say that from the moment you formed that reply in your mind.
The person didn’t expect you to act like that for they’ll be startled by your reaction. It’s because they wouldn’t want to hurt your feeling, which is why they will always try to make you believe they didn’t mean to. This is the reason some friends and family end up telling what you’d like to hear instead of the truth. Even lovers do make that mistake; Sonnet 138 of Shakespeare is the most beautiful example of that, for me at least.

Though most people think it is the best thing to do, it is the same as stabbing one’s back. Therefore I don’t consider them as truthful and real friends, lovers or whatever kind of relationship I have with that person. You don’t always like the truth but you should, in my opinion, just grow a backbone and confront it. No matter how hard it is, you cannot let the truth take you down. The truth always is your best friend; he never lies to you. I believe that people who are able to see and accept the truth are the strongest amongst us.
